Brown Rusks

Ingredients

  • 5 kg Self Raising Flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cup White Sugar
  • 300g all bran flakes
  • 375g butter
  • 1 x buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 300ml oil
  • mixed seeds (poppy, sesame, sunflower, pumpkin)

Method

  1. Pre-heat oven to 180?C, and grease ovenproof pans.
  2. In a microwave-proof bowl, melt the butter.
  3. In another bowl sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add in the sugar all bran flakes and the mixed seeds.
  4. Mix together the buttermilk, eggs and oil. Add in the melted butter and combine well.
  5. Mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix well till all ingredients are mixed and you have a slight dough.
  6. Press the dough out into pre-greased oven pans and cut into desired size pieces.
  7. Bake in preheated oven @180ºC for 30 – 40 minutes
  8. Separate each piece onto another baking tray and dry out at 50ºC – 100ºC until hard in the middle.
