Three leopard sightings, right on top of each other
On the Saturday afternoon drive we responded to a call that Mafufunyana, one of the male leopards, was spotted on Londolozi boundary. On our way there, using Arathusa Main Road, we bumped into a female leopard walking in the middle of the road. It turned out to be Nyeleti and we followed her for about 20 minutes while she was scent marking and walking towards Serengeti. We were hoping that her three sub-adult cubs would join her, but we were out of luck! Another vehicle was responding to the sighting when it found another leopard, Mbilo, playing in the tall grass at Big Dam. One the same day, but during the morning drive, we also saw Ntima and her cubs as well as Safari while hunting. What can I say, seven leopards + one day = not bad at all!

Mating lions at Ingwe Pan
We haven't seen mating lions for a while and was pleasantly surprised when we found one of the Mapogo males and a Stix pride lioness mating on Ingwe open area. When we arrived at the sighting they were both fast asleep in the grass. A little while later the female got up and went to stand in front of the male. She let out a growl as if to say, okay enough sleeping for now! He immedeately responded by mating with her. He was loud and aggressive. When he was finished and wanted to pull away, she turned around and smacked him in the face! Needless to say, the look on his face was priceless! |
