The leopard and the terrapin
We were watching Salayexe's male cub drinking water on Pungwe Island when all of a sudden he jumped up into the air. To his embarrassment, a terrapin had come up from underneath the water, right at the spot where he was drinking. He gave us a sheepish look that said: "What are you looking at? You would also have had a huge fright!

Lions play a game of tortoise
Usually when seeing lions by day you will find that they will be fast asleep, resting out for the night ahead. So when we found the Stix Pride one afternoon it was interesting to watch them playing around with a Leopard Tortoise that they found in the bush. Old & young joined in, but luckily they never hurt the tortoise. After about 30 minutes they lost interest in the tortoise, which was glad to quietly slip away into the bush.
The day that horse fly sent rhino into the bush
One would assume that a rhino’s skin is as thick as can be, but we were amazed to watch a horse fly sting Shorthorn as he was relaxing in the veld. He was lying in the grass when all of a sudden a horse fly landed on his back. It stung him, making Shorthorn jump up and storm away into the bush. |
