Big 5 Sightings 13 to 19 April 2015

The Big 5 highlight of the week was to see the Half Tail wild dog pack moving and hunting in our area. The Half Tail pack is a pack of thirteen wild dogs and this is also the pack that denned in our area last year.

Monday, 13 April 2015

  • A pack of about thirteen wild dogs resting on Wetpatch Road
  • Salayexe, the female leopard, feeding on an impala kill at Nyala Crossing
  • A breeding herd of about thirty elephants drinking water at Big Dam
  • Another breeding herd of about fifteen elephants feeding around Shirley’s Crossing
  • One buffalo bull rolling in the mud at Bushcamp Pan

 

Tuesday, 14 April 2015

  • One Matimba male lion, resting at Ingwe Pan
  • One Matimba male lion and one female of the Styx lion pride resting on White Cloth open area
  • Salayexe, the female leopard, resting close to Nyala Crossing
  • A breeding herd of about ten elephants feeding on MMM South
  • Tingana, the male leopard, moving west from MMM South
  • Moya, the female leopard, moving north from Big Dam
  • One elephant bull drinking water at Big Dam
